T\u00fcrk\u00e7e bilim terminolojisi nas\u0131ld\u0131r? Nas\u0131l olmal\u0131d\u0131r?<\/p>\n<p>Her \u015feyden \u00f6nce muhakkak ki tek terminoloji olmal\u0131d\u0131r. Bu s\u00f6ylenmemesi gereken bir s\u00f6zd\u00fcr ama maalesef T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de s\u00f6ylenmek zorundad\u0131r. \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc \u015fu anda bile maalesef birden fazla T\u00fcrk\u00e7e bilim diliyle kar\u015f\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131yay\u0131z!<\/p>\n<p>Tarih\u00ee seyre g\u00f6z atarsak, 19. as\u0131rda T\u00fcrkiye h\u00e2l\u00e2 b\u00fcy\u00fckt\u00fcr. Hasta adamd\u0131r ama h\u00e2l\u00e2 \u0130mparatorluktur. Mesel\u00e2 19. asr\u0131n ba\u015f\u0131nda \u0130stanbul\u2019da da M\u0131s\u0131r\u2019da da t\u0131p T\u00fcrk\u00e7e okutulur. \u015eanizade\u00a0Mehmed Ataullah Efendi\u2019nin \u201c<em>Hamse-i \u015eanizade<\/em>\u201d ad\u0131 ile an\u0131lan be\u015fli t\u0131p seti ders kitab\u0131d\u0131r. \u0130mparatorluk \u00e7ap\u0131nda terminoloji birli\u011fi i\u00e7inde okutulmas\u0131 da bilim dili kurulmas\u0131 y\u00f6n\u00fcnde bir ad\u0131md\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Terim ve kelime farkl\u0131 kavramlar!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u015eanizade\u2019nin terminolojisi Arap\u00e7a\u2019ya dayan\u0131r ama \u201c<em>terim<\/em>\u201dlerin farkl\u0131 bir dilden al\u0131nmas\u0131n\u0131n mahzuru yoktur. Bizim Arap\u00e7a\u2019dan t\u00fcretilmi\u015f t\u0131p veya temel bilim terimlerimiz Arap\u00e7a\u2019da yoktur. T\u0131ptan ba\u015fka kimya, fizik terminolojisi de 19. asr\u0131n tamam\u0131 ve 20. asr\u0131n ba\u015f\u0131nda da Arap\u00e7a\u2019ya dayanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. T\u00fcrk\u00e7\u00fcl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn teorisyeni Ziya G\u00f6kalp\u00a0de bunu onaylar ve T\u00fcrk\u00e7e bilim terminolojisinin Arap\u00e7a\u2019dan t\u00fcretilebilece\u011fini s\u00f6yler. Kendisi de \u00f6yle yapar. Mesel\u00e2 k\u00fclt\u00fcr kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131 kulland\u0131\u011f\u0131 kelime, \u201chars\u201d b\u00f6yledir. Bizim kendi k\u00fclt\u00fcr \u00e7evremizden terim \u00fcretmemiz gibi bug\u00fcnk\u00fc bilim dili \u0130ngilizce de kendi k\u00fclt\u00fcr \u00e7evresinden, Yunanca ve Latince\u2019den terim t\u00fcretir. Calculus, calculator, computer, telescope hep bu anlay\u0131\u015fla antik dillere dayanan terimleridir: Latince calculare ve computare fiilleri; Yunanca tele-scopes- uzak g\u00f6r\u00fcr.<\/p>\n<p>Ni\u00e7in b\u00f6yle yapm\u0131\u015flar? Terim t\u00fcretmek, marka t\u00fcretmek gibidir. Tek anlama gelmeli ve ba\u015fka bir e\u015fya veya olay i\u00e7in kullan\u0131lmamal\u0131; fakat ayn\u0131 zamanda da insanlar\u0131n anlam\u0131 biraz kavramalar\u0131na da yard\u0131m etmeli. Mesel\u00e2 mikroi\u015flemci firmas\u0131 Intel\u2019in markas\u0131 bu \u00f6zelliklerin tamam\u0131na sahiptir. \u0130ngilizcede \u201cintel\u201d diye bir kelime yoktur. Fakat markan\u0131n zek\u00e2 ile ilgisi \u0130ngilizce bilen i\u00e7in derhal kurulur. Firmaya ni\u00e7in Intelligent veya Intelligence denmemi\u015f? O zaman dildeki o kavramlarla kar\u0131\u015facak ve ba\u015fka anlamlara da kullan\u0131lacakt\u0131. Bu arada g\u00fcnl\u00fck \u0130ngilizce\u2019deki \u201cintelligence\u201d de Latince\u00a0k\u00f6kenli: Anlamak manas\u0131ndaki intelligere\u2019den geliyor.<\/p>\n<p>Aksi y\u00f6nde bir misal olarak T\u00fcrk\u00e7e\u2019deki \u201c<em>s\u00fcre\u00e7<\/em>\u201d kelimesini ele alal\u0131m. Bizim eski terminolojimizde \u201c<em>vetire<\/em>\u201d veya Bat\u0131 lisanlar\u0131nda \u201c<em>process<\/em>\u201d denilen terim bu. Bu ikincisi Latince\u00a0k\u00f6kenli, ileri gitmek anlam\u0131ndaki \u201cprocedere\u201d fiilinden.\u00a0 Hi\u00e7bir \u0130ngiliz bu kelimeyi ileri gitmekle kar\u0131\u015ft\u0131rmaz. Process sadece ve sadece process demektir; vetire de sadece vetire\u2026 Fakat biz her g\u00fcn \u201cs\u00fcre\u00e7\u201din bir vakit miktar\u0131 anlam\u0131nda kullan\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 duyuyoruz. \u201c<em>Onbe\u015f g\u00fcnl\u00fck s\u00fcre\u00e7te<\/em>\u201d gibi. Do\u011frusu \u201cOnbe\u015f g\u00fcnl\u00fck s\u00fcrede\u201ddir. \u00c7\u00f6z\u00fcmleme, analiz, tahlil demektir. Fakat s\u0131k s\u0131k \u00e7\u00f6zmek, halletmek yerine kullan\u0131lmaktad\u0131r. ATM\u2019lere para yat\u0131rd\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131zda, \u201c<em>Paran\u0131z tan\u0131mlan\u0131yor<\/em>\u201d haberi ile kar\u015f\u0131la\u015f\u0131rs\u0131n\u0131z. H\u00e2lbuki tan\u0131mlamak, tarif etmek demektir, tan\u0131mak de\u011fil.\u00a0 Do\u011frusu \u201cParan\u0131z tan\u0131n\u0131yor\u201d olmal\u0131yd\u0131. Bilimde terimlerin bu kar\u0131\u015ft\u0131rmalara tahamm\u00fcl\u00fc yoktur.<\/p>\n<p>Kimyay\u0131 \u00f6rnek alal\u0131m. Mahl\u00fbl (\u00e7\u00f6zelti), halletmek (\u00e7\u00f6zmek), takattur (dam\u0131tma), hararet (\u0131s\u0131) gibi terimlerimiz vard\u0131. T\u00fcrk\u00e7ele\u015ftirme kayg\u0131s\u0131 ile bunlar\u0131n yerine yukar\u0131da parantez i\u00e7inde verilenleri getirdik. Daha do\u011frusu, \u0130kinci D\u00fcnya Harbi s\u0131ras\u0131nda T\u00fcrkiye\u2019ye s\u0131\u011f\u0131nan Alman bilim insanlar\u0131ndan Fritz Arndt\u00a0bunlar\u0131 t\u00fcretti. O tarihte T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de sadece \u0130stanbul \u00dcniversitesi\u2019nde kimya \u00f6\u011fretiliyordu. Arndt\u2019\u0131n terimleri hem kimya hem dil bilimi a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131ndan do\u011fru se\u00e7ilmi\u015fti. \u0130kinci Fen Fak\u00fcltesi ve Kimya B\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fc Ankara \u00dcniversitesi\u2019nde a\u00e7\u0131ld\u0131; \u0130stanbul\u2019un hocalar\u0131 orada geleneklerini devam ettirdi. Ege Kimya ve \u0130T\u00dc Kimya bunlar\u0131 izledi. Fakat o g\u00fcnlerin devrimci T\u00fcrk Dil Kurumu, \u00fcniversitelere falan dan\u0131\u015fma l\u00fczumunu hissetmeden kendi terimlerini uydurdu. Bunlar kesinlikle \u00fcniversitenin hassasiyetini ta\u015f\u0131m\u0131yordu. Hal, \u00e7\u00f6zme fiiline erimek dediler. H\u00e2lbuki erimek g\u00fcnl\u00fck bir faz de\u011fi\u015fikli\u011fiydi: Buz erirdi, kur\u015fun erirdi ama \u015feker suda hallolur, \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcn\u00fcrd\u00fc. Bu sefer erime\u011fe bir terim uydurma ihtiyac\u0131 duydular ve ona da ergimek dediler. \u00dcniversitelerimiz Arndt\u2019\u0131n terminolojisini kullan\u0131rken Mill\u00ee E\u011fitim\u00a0okullar\u0131 TDK\u00a0terminolojisini kullanmaya ba\u015flad\u0131. Bu hoyratl\u0131\u011f\u0131n ba\u015fka tezah\u00fcrleri de vard\u0131, mesel\u00e2 TRT s\u0131cakl\u0131\u011fa \u0131s\u0131 demekte \u0131srarl\u0131yd\u0131. Onlar\u0131n kula\u011f\u0131na \u201c\u0131s\u0131\u201d, \u201cs\u0131cakl\u0131k\u201dtan daha \u201c\u00d6zt\u00fcrk\u00e7e\u201d geliyordu. H\u00e2lbuki \u0131s\u0131, kaloriyle \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fclen bir enerji miktar\u0131na, s\u0131cakl\u0131k ise derece ile \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fclen bir etkiye denirdi. 40 derecede bir kova suyun s\u0131cakl\u0131\u011f\u0131, 40 derecede bir bardak suyunkiyle ayn\u0131d\u0131r. H\u00e2lbuki kovada bardaktakinden kat ve kat fazla \u0131s\u0131 vard\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p><strong>T\u00fcrk\u00e7e terminoloji nas\u0131l bozuldu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1960 ve 70\u2019lerde, T\u00fcrk\u00e7e e\u011fitim veren \u00fcniversiteler do\u011fru d\u00fcr\u00fcst bir T\u00fcrk\u00e7e terminoloji ile devam ederken yabanc\u0131 dille e\u011fitim yapan okullar T\u00fcrk\u00e7e kimya (veya fizik, veya biyoloji, vs.) terimlerini \u00f6\u011fretme ihtiyac\u0131 duymuyordu. Robert Kolej\u00a0ve Orta Do\u011fu Teknik \u00dcniversitesi\u00a0gibi \u00fcniversiteler de\u2026 \u00dcstelik ilk zamanlarda bunlar, \u00f6\u011frencilerinin b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00e7o\u011funlu\u011funu \u0130ngilizce e\u011fitim yapan liselerden al\u0131rd\u0131. B\u00f6ylelikle piyasaya hayat\u0131nda \u201c\u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcnme\u201d terimini duymam\u0131\u015f kimyac\u0131lar ve kimya m\u00fchendisleri \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131. \u00dcstelik bu okullar, \u00f6zellikle ODT\u00dc, kaliteli e\u011fitim veriyordu ve oran\u0131n mezunlar\u0131 hem yeni \u00fcniversitelerde hem de orta \u00f6\u011fretimde aranan elemanlard\u0131. O i\u015flere de yerle\u015ftiler. Sonu\u00e7ta T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de \u00fc\u00e7 ayr\u0131 kimya\u2014ve bilim\u2014terminolojisi yan yana ya\u015far h\u00e2le geldi: Eski T\u00fcrk \u00fcniversitelerininki, T\u00fcrk Dil Kurumu\u2019nunki ve hi\u00e7 T\u00fcrk\u00e7e terminoloji bilmeyen ve ODT\u00dcce denilen bir dili konu\u015fanlar! ODT\u00dc\u2019ce konu\u015fanlar ettiklerinden hi\u00e7 mutlu de\u011fillerdi ve onlar da \u2013 her ne demekse\u2014 \u00d6zt\u00fcrk\u00e7e bir bilim dili icad etmeye koyuldular. \u00d6zellikle yeni alanlardaki bir k\u0131s\u0131m terim de bu son te\u015febb\u00fcsle t\u00fcretildi. \u015eimdi T\u00fcrk\u00e7e bilim dili \u00fc\u00e7 leh\u00e7eye s\u00e2hiptir: T\u00fcrk\u00e7e konu\u015fulan \u00fcniversitelerin bilim dili, orta \u00f6\u011fretimde TDK\u2019n\u0131n bilim dili ve bunlardan ba\u011f\u0131ms\u0131z uydurulmu\u015f \u00f6zt\u00fcrk\u00e7e bilim dili. Fakat biz kendi aram\u0131zda \u0130ngilizce terimlerle konu\u015furuz! \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc bu \u00fc\u00e7 leh\u00e7e bir biriyle anla\u015famaz. Leh\u00e7eler \u00e7o\u011fal\u0131nca b\u00f6yle olur.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0130ngilizce \u00f6\u011frenmeli miyiz?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcz Lingua Franca\u2019s\u0131 \u0130ngilizcedir. Milletleraras\u0131 alanda ister bilim ister diplomasi ister hukukla u\u011fra\u015f\u0131n, \u0130ngilizce bilmek zorundas\u0131n\u0131z. Fakat maalesef bizim e\u011fitimimiz bir\u00e7ok \u015fey gibi yabanc\u0131 dili de \u00f6\u011fretemez. Bu \u00f6\u011fretemeyen \u00f6\u011fretim kurumlar\u0131n\u0131n ba\u015f\u0131nda sekiz y\u0131l yabanc\u0131 dil \u00f6\u011fretip hi\u00e7 bir \u015fey \u00f6\u011fretmeyen ortaokul ve liselerimiz gelir. Asl\u0131nda bunlar\u0131n \u00e7o\u011fu ayn\u0131 s\u00fcrede m\u00fcfredattaki di\u011fer dersleri de \u00f6\u011fretememektedir. Fakat okullarda T\u00fcrk\u00e7e\u2019nin \u00f6\u011fretilemedi\u011fini anlamak i\u00e7in belli bir dikkat gerekir, \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc gen\u00e7ler evlerinde ve medyada da bir miktar T\u00fcrk\u00e7e \u00f6\u011frenir ve o T\u00fcrk\u00e7e ile idare ederler. \u00c7evrelerindeki insanlar da ayn\u0131 \u00e7evre ve kurumlardan \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131klar\u0131 i\u00e7in eksiklik fark edilmez. Mesel\u00e2 bug\u00fcn on dakika i\u00e7inde bir haber kanal\u0131 spikeri falan haberi filan ajansa \u201c<em>ithafen<\/em>\u201d verdi\u011fini\u2014her halde atfen demek istiyor\u2014 bilmem neyin de \u201c<em>geri iade<\/em>\u201d edildi\u011fini s\u00f6yl\u00fcyordu. B\u00fct\u00fcn kanallar \u201c<em>mesqun mahal<\/em>\u201dden bahsediyor, kundura\u2019n\u0131n \u201cqun\u201du gibi ve bir a\u00e7\u0131k oturum program\u0131na kat\u0131lan alt\u0131 \u201cuzman\u201d ve y\u00f6neticiden hi\u00e7 biri \u201cbeka\u201d diyemiyor. Benim i\u00e7im c\u0131z ediyor ama biz acaba b\u00f6yle i\u00e7i c\u0131z eden ka\u00e7 ki\u015fiyiz? Sonu\u00e7 olarak d\u00fczg\u00fcn T\u00fcrk\u00e7e konu\u015fam\u0131yorlar ama bunun fark\u0131nda de\u011filler ve konu\u015ftuklar\u0131n\u0131 san\u0131yorlar. Ya onlar\u0131 dinleyenler? T\u00fcrk\u00e7e bilmeyenler, T\u00fcrk\u00e7e bilmeyenlerin T\u00fcrk\u00e7e bilmediklerini bilemez ki!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fakat yabanc\u0131 dil bilmeyen hemen anla\u015f\u0131l\u0131r<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Buna kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131k yabanc\u0131 dilin \u00f6\u011fretilemedi\u011fini pek dikkat etmeseniz de hemen anlars\u0131n\u0131z. \u015eurada ne diyor, bir oku da s\u00f6yle veya bu turist ne istiyor\u2026 Bu sorulara ya cevap verebilirsiniz yahut veremezsiniz. Bizim lise ve \u00fcniversite mezunlar\u0131m\u0131z bu cevaplar\u0131 veremedi\u011finden bir\u00e7o\u011fumuz, yabanc\u0131 dili hakk\u0131yla \u00f6\u011frenmek i\u00e7in e\u011fitimin de o dilde olmas\u0131 gerekti\u011fini d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcr. Ger\u00e7ekten en iyi yabanc\u0131 dil bilen \u00f6\u011frenciler ODT\u00dc, Bilkent, Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i gibi e\u011fitimin de \u0130ngilizce oldu\u011fu okullardan yeti\u015fmiyor mu?&#8230; Fakat bu g\u00f6r\u00fcnt\u00fc aldat\u0131c\u0131d\u0131r. Bu kurumlar en y\u00fcksek puanla \u00f6\u011frenci alanlard\u0131r ve onlar\u0131n \u00f6\u011frencileri her konuda ba\u015flang\u0131\u00e7tan itibaren avantajl\u0131d\u0131r. Hocalar\u0131 da titizlikle se\u00e7ilmi\u015ftir. Bunlar\u0131n \u0130ngilizce haz\u0131rl\u0131k s\u0131n\u0131flar\u0131, \u00f6\u011frencinin hayat\u0131ndan bir y\u0131l almak kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131nda onlara dil \u00f6\u011fretir ve bu i\u015fi de olduk\u00e7a iyi yapar. Ho\u015f, di\u011fer \u00fcniversitelerimizin haz\u0131rl\u0131k s\u0131n\u0131flar\u0131 da o bir y\u0131l\u0131 al\u0131rlar ama farklar\u0131 o bir y\u0131lda lisedeki meslekta\u015flar\u0131 gibi pek bir \u015fey \u00f6\u011fretememeleridir. ODT\u00dc\u2019n\u00fcn b\u00fct\u00fcn bu avantajlar\u0131na ra\u011fmen ben, y\u00fcksek lisans m\u00fcracaat\u0131, \u0130ngilizcesi iyi olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 i\u00e7in reddedilen ODT\u00dc mezunu g\u00f6rd\u00fcm.<\/p>\n<p>Do\u011frudur, g\u00f6zlenen ger\u00e7ek, \u00f6\u011fretimin \u0130ngilizce yap\u0131lmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 e\u011fitim kurumlar\u0131nda yabanc\u0131 dilin lay\u0131\u011f\u0131nca \u00f6\u011frenilmedi\u011fi, hatta kurumun kalitesine, daha do\u011frusu kalitesizli\u011fine g\u00f6re, bazen hi\u00e7 \u00f6\u011frenilmedi\u011fidir. Fakat bu \u0130ngilizce \u00f6\u011frenmek i\u00e7in \u0130ngilizce e\u011fitim yapmak gerekti\u011fini de\u011fil, sadece, kalitesiz \u00f6\u011fretimin dil veya ba\u015fka bir \u015feyi \u00f6\u011fretemedi\u011fini g\u00f6sterir, o kadar. Avrupa\u2019dan Uzak Do\u011fu\u2019ya b\u00fct\u00fcn \u00fclkelerde bir taraftan \u0130ngilizce ba\u015far\u0131yla \u00f6\u011fretilirken di\u011fer taraftan e\u011fitim \u00fclkenin kendi diliyle yap\u0131l\u0131r. Kimse e\u011fitimi de \u0130ngilizce yapal\u0131m diye d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnmez.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Peki sonu\u00e7?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u0130ngilizce \u00fcniversitede mutlaka \u00f6\u011fretilmeli, \u00f6\u011frenilmelidir. Dal\u0131 ne olursa olsun her \u00fcniversite \u00f6\u011frencisi Lingua Franka\u2019y\u0131 \u00f6\u011frenmek zorundad\u0131r. T\u0131pk\u0131 bin y\u0131l \u00f6nce Avrupa\u2019da mutlaka Latince, bizim co\u011frafyam\u0131zda da mutlaka T\u00fcrk\u00e7e, Arap\u00e7a\u00a0ve Fars\u00e7a\u00a0bilmek gerekti\u011fi gibi. Bu gereklili\u011fi anlamak i\u00e7in herhangi bir kelime ve kavram\u0131 Google\u2019a bir kere T\u00fcrk\u00e7e, bir kere de \u0130ngilizce arat\u0131n ve bulunan kaynak say\u0131s\u0131na bir g\u00f6z at\u0131n.
